How it develops
It opens loud and sweet, candied and dried fruits piled over pink and Nepal pepper, cinnamon and Damask rose, with coffee lending a bitter edge. As the sugar burns off, saffron and oud rise through jasmine and iris, while cedar and sandalwood build a resinous spine. The long drydown turns animalic and dark, leather, incense, civet and smoke laid over balsams, ambergris and vanilla that keep the whole thing warm rather than harsh.
