It opens loud and strange: mandarin scrubbed of all its juiciness, more peel and pith than fruit, wired to saffron until the pair reads almost metallic. That brightness burns off over the first half hour into the part people remember — a cold, dry suede that seems to have no animal in it at all, propped up by immortelle's odd maple-and-hay sweetness. Akigalawood and cedar carry the base, keeping everything mineral, airy and faintly salty rather than warm.
