Oud Wood, the 2007 pillar, is the polite oud: smoothed with rosewood, cardamom and vanilla until the agarwood reads as expensive rather than feral. The Intense keeps that woody skeleton and strips the comfort out of it. Castoreum brings a leathery animal warmth the original never carried; cypress and juniper turn the opening green and resinous instead of spiced-sweet; angelica root drags everything downward. Same wood, far less varnish — and evening replaces all-occasion.
