Egoiste was warm, spicy and rose-and-sandalwood dark, a dessert of a masculine that divided every room it entered. Platinum kept almost none of it. Polge traded the warm spicy coat for lavender, rosemary and petitgrain, greened the whole structure with clary sage and galbanum, and replaced velvet with starch. What was seductive and nocturnal became tailored and daylit; what was oriental became fougere. It is one of the rare flankers that shares a name with its parent and little else.
